Mamajeva Sloboda is a Cossack settlement of the 17th - 18th century situated in the centre of Kiev
(7 km from Khreshchatyk).
It's a unique open-air museum where you may spend a pleasant time and have unforgettable impressions. Come and find authentic houses of Cossack epoch (the mansions of tytar, potter, blacksmith, Cossack-dzhura, stony-house of Cossack superior), visit Cossack wooden church (similar to those which were built in the times of Bohdan Khmelnytsky), see marvelous windmills - the symbols of peaceful husbandry Ukraine, have a rest at the picturesque lake, feed the fish, sheep and chicken, be a guest at potter's and blacksmith's workshops and try yourself in these handicrafts, taste delicious traditional national dishes of genuine Ukrainian cuisine in shynok (Ukrainian restaurant), meet real Cossacks and even ride their horses!
The objects of Mamajeva Sloboda are used according to the methods of living history in order to advertise and revive the original Ukrainian traditions, customs and rituals, forgotten labor skills and handicrafts.
